Took a quick mental health break from studying yesterday to have a look around for Glossies. I found none. But I did have a look in Glenbrook NP, out near The Oaks Picnic Area, there's a little 'dam' (it's about a foot deep, or 1/66th of a chain) and find some good birding. I sat on a rock, just on the edge of the clearing for about half an hour, and saw:
Up to 5 Thornbills, I'll be the first to admit my Thornbill skills aren't the best Rose Robin some young Grey Fantails Yellow Faced HE's Spinebills Superb Fairies White Throated TreeCreepers and a couple of Gerygones It seems to be the only water for miles at the moment and they pretty much took turns having a drink and a little swim. I didn't note which ones, but there are a few Eucalypts flowering around there as well, so it was a real hive of activity. It would also be a great spot to set up a small hide and take photos of an afternoon... -- Evan Beaver Lapstone, Blue Mountains, NSW lat=-33.77, lon=150.64 |
