Gooday Birders

Visited Nobbies Breakwater for an hour or so today (20.3.06) at about lunchtime. Overcast, fresh breeze and warm. Saw the following birds -

Australian Gannet, immature, several of

Large Black Cormorant

Little Black Cormorant

Pelican

Silver Gull

Darter

Crested Tern

Wedge-tailed Shearwater, moving south in dribs and drabs

Little Penguin

Pomarine Jaeger, not absolutely sure, about 4 approximately, 300-400m to the north east off the end of the breakwater, harassing the shearwaters. While I could see a distinct darker cap on the crown of their heads I could not detect the extended tail feathers. Also appeared to have lighter patches on the upper wings and a lighter rump/tail area? They were bigger and stockier than the shearwaters.

This is my first bird observation list onto the birding-aus site, so please bear with me if I muck it up.

Greg
