Hi birders,
The next Victorian public lecture of Birds Australia is on Thursday 9
March 2006 at 8:00pm. We are fortunate to have as our guest speaker one
of our leading field naturalist Dr Stuart Dashper, who will be speaking
about birding in southern Sumatra. Sumatra is one of the world's largest
islands and straddles the equator just to the north of Australia. With
an exotic avifauna of over 700 species and a range of habitats from
extensive swamp forests to smouldering volcanoes it is surprising that
so few birders visit this fascinating destination.
The talk will be held at our usual venue, downstairs at the theatrette
at Strathcona BG Grammar School, Scott St, Canterbury, Melbourne.
(Melways Ref. 46 D12).
Cheers,
Tim Dolby
Convenor, Birds Australia Victoria
