In February, the regular Sydney pelagic
trip had to be cancelled because only six people had booked and Hal
needs about 15 to break even on the Halicat.
The March trip currently has 10 birders signed up
and it has been decided that we will go regardless of whether breakeven numbers
are reached or not, as Hal does not want the Sydney pelagic tradition to
wither on the vine. There have been some good summer birds around lately in the
warm water - Streaked Shearwater, Black Petrel and Mottled Petrel have all been
recorded in the last 4-6 weeks from shore and from fishing
charters.
So this is just a memory jog to Sydney birders
to try and get out to support the monthly trips now and then - Dave
Mitford, Phil Maher and Steve Anyon-Smith will be on the March trip, so we will
have some good eyes and expertise on board.
The Halicat will depart Cremorne Point Wharf at
06.45 and Rose Bay Public Wharf at 07.00 on Saturday 11 March and you can phone
Hal on 0411 311 236 to make a booking. Hope to see you there.
Cheers
Roger McGovern
