Hi Andrew,You are right of course that the migratory populations of the Osprey occur and breed at higher latitudes but they do migrate to the tropics in the winter. I tend to think of the Australasian sub-species (or species) as being tropical or subtropical but even it occurs in temperate areas in Western Australia and South Australia. The distribution of Australian Ospreys is indeed enigmatic. Regards Greg |
