Hi all,

Spent the day with several others at WTP yesterday. The eastern conservation
ponds was again the highlight, with at least 6 Long-toed Stints and 4 Wood
Sandpipers present, as well as the Red-necked Phalarope (spotted with
binoculars by David Holland!). All provided sensational views and were well
photographed. The stints were concentrated at the eastern end of the pond,
often close the edge (several were also seen near the southern shore). The
phalarope was in one of the rapidly receding pools in the middle of the pond,
but did move several times between here and another pool towards the eastern
end. A Buff-banded Rail also ventured into the open at the south-east corner
of the pond on several occasions, and a lone Magpie Goose was present at around
9 am before flying off. A thorough search of Walsh's Lagoon at different times
failed to yield the Ruff, as did a search of T-section lagoons 5, 6 and 7 late
in the day. Walsh's did have a Spotted Crake late in the day.

Cheers, Dean
