I'm currently organising a not-for-profit
Birding Trip to Kenya for June 2006!
And I need just a few more people to join us.
If you have ever considered going birding in Africa I encourage you
to take
advantage of this tour. The trip is 'not for profit' meaning that
despite
the fact that it is a specialist small group birding trip it is
cheaper than
even a 'normal tourist safari'. We will be lead by a specialist Kenyan
birding guide, Chege Kariuki, who will ensure that we experience a huge
diversity of habitats, mammals and, of course, birds. Kenya, despite
being
only about 70% the size of New South Wales, has a bird list of over 1000
species. For any Australian birder there is every chance that your
African
bird list will eclipse your Australian one in a manner of weeks!
Our three week safari visits the following places;
a.. Nairobi National Park
b.. Samburu Reserve
c.. Mt Kenya
d.. The rift valley lakes - Lake Nakuru, Lake Baringo, and Lake
Naivsha
[think Flamingos and Hippos]
e.. Saiwa Swamp National Park
f.. Kakamega forest - an eastern extension of West African
Rainforest
filled with monkeys and exotic bird life
g.. Kisumu [on Lake Victoria] for a variety of wetland specialties
h.. The famous Maasai Mara Reserve, home to thousands of plains
animals as
well as the famous Maasai people.-
i.. AND many places in between.
There is also the option of an additional 7 day extension traveling
through
Tsavo East National Park to the Kenyan Coast before returning to
Nairobi via
the Taita Hills.
Our accommodation is all three star or above and all meals are
included. We
will be traveling in two mini buses such that all participants have a
window
seat.
Unbelievably the tour also includes a European 'stop- over'. All
participants have the choice of visiting one of several European cities
after the safari at no extra air-fare cost. All in all this trip
deserves
the cliché of a 'trip of a lifetime!'
