Hi, I would just like to thank the people that gave me feedback on my posting about scaly-breasted lorikeets. I am new to this list and indeed bird watching, I was thrilled to see these birds in my yard at home in Melton Vic and I have now come to learn that there is a resident population of these birds around Melbourne.
As I said I am new to bird watching, although for many years I have had a copy of the ubiquitous What bird is that?, and owned a pair of binoculars. It was only recently after reading the book The Big Twitch that I thought I would see what all the fuss was about. I now have a field guide and a permit to go to the sewerage farm in Werribee, and I have seen lots of birds in my neighbourhood that I didn't see before.
So,thanks again to those who gave me info and feedback.
Cheers,
Denis Morton
Melton Vic.
