A good cross platform and free program is Audacity On Macs the industry standard is the expensive Bias Peak software though the very powerful and cheap Amadeus II is also well worth look as it includes the ability to produce sonograms. For detailed analysis check out Raven from Cornell University

Hi all,
I have some bird calls on tape that I would like to convert to digital records on my computer.  I can hook the tape drive up to the computer erasily enough, but can anyone tell me what software I need to capture the incoming calls and save them as digital files?
