Important Bird Areas (IBA's) are in the process of
being done for Australia. The Birds Australia-North Queensland Group pioneered
them and has compiled IBA's for north Queensland and other regional BA
groups are also in the process of producing them. This project has been
co-ordinated by Prof. Stephen Garnett, with Birds Australia and BirdLife
International.
