Hi Birders,Chris Sanderson has been concerned that he has been missing the Koels in inner Sydney,NSW, despite everyone telling him that they have had no trouble finding them. The thing is that from mid January onwards the calling rate slows down and indeed it is possible that a number of Koels have already rounded up their offsping, having been fostered by other species and started the return northwards. Certainly here at Bateau Bay, the daily early morning calls (since September) ceased about one week ago and now it is just a contact call or two sometime during the day, if at all.
