Hi all,
Further to Richard Nowotny's email all of the birds he mentioned plus a
count of 30 Marsh Sandpipers were on the eastern conservation pond
(Western Treatment Plant ,Werribee, Victoria) yesterday. There was also
a Cox's Sandpiper on the western conservation pond. Cox's Sandpipers are
now widely recognised as hybrids between Pectoral Sandpipers and Curlew
Sandpipers and there is DNA study to back this up.
Cheers,
Rohan Clarke

For the information of interested local birders, the eastern
Conservation Lagoon at the Western Treatment Plant (Werribee) yesterday
(Sat 28 JAN) continued to provide excellent views (from the northern
roadway) of the Red-necked Phalarope, Long-toed Stint and Wood
Sandpipers that have been being seen for some weeks now.
