G'day birders

This proves the point entirely. Who knows if a PO is a "Post Office", "Powerful Owl" or a "Pied Oystercatcher" or God knows what. Indecipherable acronyms are not such a good thing on a public list like this. WTNT and YTBC or RTBC are okay in subject lines but perhaps these should be referred to in full at least once in the body of the document so that people (and especially new people to the list) are not shut out by an "insider's club" mentality, because that it what the use of obscure acronyms appears to be. It's not unlike being in a group of 3 people, when 2 are whispering among themselves. Let's try to be as inclusive as possible.

Another good habit to foster is to place your location under your name. In this way, your observations are not rendered useless. Also, if you do happen to see a Letter-winged Kite (LWK) at Wheelyabarrowback (W), it would be nice to know if there is a town or reference point by which we can determine the location of the sighting. GPS locations are good, but how many of us have a GPS? Don't anyone dare ask what a GPS is :)

Well, that's about all the gripes, now back to those Eastern Whipbirds which have recently invaded my suburban Belrose (far northern Sydney) backyard. . . unbelievable.
