Hi All,
It was still there today, nine days after
first being seen in the same area by Frank Hemmings. We observed
it for 15 mins from 9.00 am. It fed on the fairly open ground in and
adjacent to the wheel tracks south-east of and between the two red flags of the
firing range. It was not disturbed by us at about 25m; taking a scope
would be worth the effort.
Ern Hoskin's book, The Birds of Sydney, does
not mention this species. Did he miss a previous County of Cumberland
record, or is this the first? Perhaps Alan Morris can advise on that
one?
