Gooday Belinda,
I made one year of birding a Crake, Rail and Quail year.
The result however was that some birds are secretive and and cryptic in their behaviour and one just has to be in the right place at the right time. As Simon pointed out with his observation of the Buff-banded Rail, miracles can happen from time to time and patience is the key. Jon Wren
