Hi Birders,Janice England asked whether Magpie-larks readily give up their nests for other birds to use or are they pushed out? I think the answer is the former because one sees many old magpie-lark nests around, so perhaps they generally prefer to use a new nest for the second and subsequent clutches. Here on the Central Coast of NSW I would see as many White-breasted Woodswallows nesting in old magpielark nests as I would see nests in their tradtional sites of forks in dead trees etc. In inland NSW I have seen Common Bronzewings nesting in Magpielark nests at least on three occasions.
