Yesterday a group of us from Hunter Bird Observers Club did our annual count of Latham’s Snipe at Pambalong Nature Reserve, which is near Minmi on the outskirts of Newcastle.  66 birds were present – the best numbers since 2000.  The water levels perhaps are about as high as back then too.
