Per Susan Kozianski's message of 1 November, I have read the Simon Barnes
book "How to be a Bad Birdwatcher" - and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (As an ex
resident of the UK, I was familiar with his writing as he is the chief
sports writer for The Times in the UK, so knew roughly what to expect - he
may not be to everybody's taste, but there's lots of good anecdotes,
although it is primarily UK birding focused.)

I wouldn't want to spoil it, but bad birdwatching is probably what most of
us do (viz my recent notes about watching Ravens prancing about on Sydney
CBD office rooftops eating Bogong moth corpses when I should have been
working!)
Cheers
Tom Wilson
