Hi Lewis / all,

Just quickly. I friend of mine who lives in Gordon (close to Linfield) in a house that back onto bushland mentioned to me recently he has a regular Superb Lyrebird that comes right up to his window. He said he has seen a "family" before and that the birds have been there for years.

He even proved it to me recently by recording a short video with sound on his mobile phone including sound (rattling, whipping sounds).

The point? Given the North Shore's love of cats and dogs and the urban area, it's wonderful to think these birds survive.

Regards,
Charles

On my way to work this morning(6.30) there were three Brush  Turkeys beside the rail line on Lindfield Ave about 100 metres from Lindfield Station.

This is the closest I have seen them to the City and in quite a busy area.
