I think the fact that yesterday's first confirmed UK case was in a (quarantined) imported parrot rather knocks on the head any idea that it's just wildfowl.
 
And when I went to Cozumel in 2003 (excellent place, totally recommend it) I was rather led to believe that earlier hurricanes had already done for the thrasher.
