Hi Birders,

Two people have enquired as to how many records there are for Radjah Shelducks in NSW?

The answer is hard to say because their former distribution, prior to 1901, for NSW was Richmond River, Clarence River, Moree Watercourse and the Macquarie River. Last reported near Moree in 1901 when a flock of "about 15 birds" were present in the Moree watercourse now known as the Gwydir Wetlands. Then in 1965 there was a report of a bird at Lismore (Frith 1967 "Waterfowl in Australia" pp 157) and one was seen at Lake Brewster, west of Lake Cargelligo 25/9/1968 (Emu 69, 242).

No other records until the pair were seen near Urunga in August 2005, which as I understand it, could be the 9th NSW record.
