Hi all,
A single Regent Honeyeater spent some time here Monday morning. I first saw
it high in lemon-scented gum feeding, rapidly going from blossom to blossom,
about 7am and again at 7.30am, this time spending more time at each blossom.
I then had to go to Seymour for the day. While I was away Roberta got
lovely views of it feeding in a leucoxylon for several minutes about 10am -
eye height and bins not needed! It is not banded. She did not get a chance
to look for it again.
I have spent some time searching for it this morning without success.
Still many species breeding. New Hollands are now in large numbers and
making life difficult for other honeyeaters.
Watched a Koala being annoyed by a group of Brown-headed Honeyeaters a few
days ago. They looked like woodpeckers but I presume that they were getting
fur. In any event the Koala was quite agitated and waving its 'arms'
ineffectively -although the birds desisted after at least ten minutes.
Roberta has just told me that she thinks that she just saw it again!
Bye
Barry and Roberta McLean
