With everybody reporting on Spring Arrivals, it is probably time for another
word from up here (Uralla NSW) where things are much slower. I have had little
time to get out much lately, and there is little sign yet of summer migrants in
the local woodlands. But Dangars Lagoon now has good numbers of Sharpies, a few
Marsh Sandpipers, and a lone Greenshank. No Snipe or Terns in evidence. Duck
numbers are improving as the water level continues to rise, but the range of
species remains small, with Shoveler and Grey Teal dominating, and no
'Stiff-tails' or Pinkears. The other good news is that there is now some water
in our other lagoon -- Race-course Lagoon -- with a few swans and Grey Teal
apparently finding enough to feed on there.
