Hi All,
Our stay in the Katoomba area was rather cool and windy. Good to renew
sightings of many eastern species, plus our first sightings of Rock Warblers at
Evans Lookout and at Echo Point.
We have now moved to the Capertee Valley, arriving in rain. The next day was
very cold and windy, but today (Sun) has been ideal. Began the day by sighting
our first Speckled Warblers near the road at about 1km north of the Glen
Davis/Rylstone juncton. Later several sightings of our first Little Lorikeets.
The day's highlight came about mid-day when a check on some flowering White Box
yielded a pair of Regent Honeyeaters, needless to say, also our first.
For those interested, this location was at the end of the bitumen from
Capertee, right at the yellow & red sign. The two birds repeatedly foraged in
the trees above the road then returned to the same area about 30 - 40m down the
steep densely wooded slope on the southern side.
We have a couple more days here yet, so hope to be able to record more yet.
John & Nancy Turner
