The Capertee Valley Regent Honeyeater Recovery Group was recently nominated  for a Lithgow City Council annual Environmental Award for their habitat restoration work in the Capertee Valley.

I am pleased to announce that they won the award in the Community Group section.  The competition was stiff with Friends of the Colo being presented with a merit award for their Willows out of the Wollemi project.

Congratulations to the steering committee for their efforts and to all the volunteers that have been involved in putting in the 70 000 or so trees and shrubs into the ground over the past 11 years in an effort to restore woodland habitat for Regent Honeyeaters and other threatened woodland birds.

And .... we can't forget that none of this would have been possible without the continued support of Capertee Valley landholders who actively seek us out and want trees on their land.

Cheers
