Hummingbird in Australia?

Hmmm.  I've seen hummingbirds in England, but only in the zoo where I am fairly sure they said they are found naturally only in the Americas,.
 
But the Hummingbird Hawk-moth is quite common in the Mediterranean!
 
They really deserve the name as the fly in the day and like the other hawk-moths hover and suddenly dart from one flower to another.  Wingspan is a couple of inches.
