Hi all,

It is still Winter here at 'Koornong' but there are a few signs of an approaching Spring. We have had some good rain, the sun is shining occasionally and grass and weeds are growing.

Wood Ducks have been very noisy and spending much time in trees recently but have fairly quiet, presumably they have found nest sites or have left to look for some.

The Striated Pardalotes are very vocal; so are the Spotted Pardalotes and one pair have been renovating last year's nest, which they enter though a hole in the concrete retaining wall in the carport.

Magpie groups are arguing in several places and at least one pair are well advanced with their nest.

Grey Shrike-thrush are also very vocal and a/the pair are spending time inspecting the saucepan in the tractor shed again - they have raised two broods each of the last three years.

I saw a pair of New Holland Honeyeaters copulating on Monday.
