Dear Shane
Where near Barrington Tops? - it's a big area! Rufous Scrub- birds are around at Gloucester Tops, off the Kiripit Trail at the very top after the NPSW camping area. But if it is wet, rainy, snowly or overcast, you won't get up there and if you do, you won't see much. RSBs are usually heard rather than seen, and often not heard at all at this time of year - try September onwards. Interesting areas are the Alleyn Valley and Chichester Dam, Gloucester Tops, Copeland Tops. Cheap place to stay is the Gloucester Caravan park, or there are a couple of motels in town, but will you be in Glos?
