Hi Michael and others,
 
I have seen it work. Actually it is a trap that resembles a small portable aviary. The birds enter it willingly, it is baited with dog food and has captive Mynas in it as an encouragement to attract more birds. It is nothing like a "roosting tree trap, possibly artificial" and it does not involve a net at all.
