hi all my wife and i went for a pleasant early morning stroll around the reservoir at Brisbane Forest Park west of the city last thurs. (sorry for the late posting but i've been without a computer.) highlights included 2 comb-crested jacanas, a great crested grebe, 2 great egrets, a gorgeous fan-tailed cuckoo, brown cuckoo-dove, tawny grassbird, male variegated wren, male golden whistler and male scralet HE. a close view of a very freshly fledged bell miner with anxious parents doing their broken wing display was a treat. little lorikeets, red-browed finches, yellow-faced honeyeaters, sacred kingfishers and aust/little grebes were plentiful. the previous day i saw a great egret in the city botanical gardens and the two resident peregrines soaring high over the tallest building in the CBD on a swirling storm front. happy birding shane b vaucluse |
