Being totally technologically inept, one wonders how such a device would work when faced with more than one bird calling at a time.  I imagine that it may not be terribly useful during a rainforest dawn chorus for example.

I dare say, that if such a device was developed to the point where it is no longer little more than a "toy" those working on the product might overcome this potential problem.

By the way, it seems that a few people may be taking this conversation (in the absence of any other thread going on at the moment) a little too seriously.  Much that has been written to date has been somewhat tongue in cheek and should be interpreted in that light.
