For those who did not see yesterday's IT Alive
supplement in The Australian newspaper there was a snippet on the front page
regarding a new piece of birding technology. The Song Sleuth by Wildlife
Acoustics, a hand held gadget, is pointed at bird noise and responds with a bird
name. Appears to be confined to the US but I am sure will spread to other
regions.
Apart from the obvious, may be an important tool
in the future to identify significant areas without necessarily having to
physically identify the species.
Cheers
Peter
