On 17 May I posted a report on the Grey Honeyeater at the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens in Alice Springs and gave credit to its recent discovery to local birder Barbara Gilfedder.

Barbara has advised that it was actually Bob Forsyth of Mount Isa who was the sharp-eyed observer, who reported it to Barbara, and who was my source.

Many people have been lucky enough to see the birds since my posting. On at least 2 occasions we had 2 adults and 1 very young bird at the same time. So young in fact that the cream gape was still clearly visible. This gives rise to optimism that they may have bred in the area.

Over the last 11 days I have only seen 1 Grey HE, and that on 2 occasions only. It certainly is not as reliable as it was for the 3 weeks since my original posting.
