Thanks to John McAllister for that info. about Bonaparte the ornithogist.But, from a bit of googling, he also made a vast collection of fish specimens the Australian Emydura freshwater tortoise genus, including the Murray River Tortoise etc., was "erected" by him. I suppose he was working with the Natural History Museum in Paris where Dumeril and Bibron were busy classifying Australian fauna, notably frogs!
