The APVMA review of 1080 has recently been published for public comment by
31 August.
See: http://www.apvma.gov.au/chemrev/1080.shtml
with the summary report at:
http://www.apvma.gov.au/chemrev/1080_prelim_review_findings.pdf
On a quick read it says, based on DEH advice, that it does not threaten
non-target species (mammals, birds) at the population level but that the
labels - directions for use - should be improved.
I think there is something about a code of practice and it also discusses
concerns about its humaneness, even though this is actually outside APVMA's
terms of reference.
I'll have to check the technical report to see if my concerns about reptiles
and using it to help protect the Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat are covered!
