Hi All,
Walked up Mayfair Rd. about 7.45 this morning, later than usual,
the sun was up, no wind, a beautiful day.
A male GOLDEN WHISTLER was hopping around and eyeing off an
EASTERN SHRIKE-TIT a couple of metres away in the same tree, very similar
colours but the Whistler's gold a little richer.
The resident WHITE (grey) GOSHAWK unsucessfully swooping
through the treetops, an enraged GREY BUTCHERBIRD screaming after it once it
had gone. The Goshawk is one of our outstandingly magnificent birds, the
swoop was fast, fluid and spectacular.
BAR-SHOULDERED DOVES and RED-VENTED BULBULS sunning themselves
up in dead eucalypt branches. Twelve SITELLAS counted flying between trees,
two JACKY WINTERS and an OLIVE-BACKED ORIOLE.
A BLACK SWAN recorded for the first time on one of the farm
dams which was constructed three years ago and now has ribbon-weed growing
in the shallows.
