Could anyone give me a hint to what may have happened??

Walking through our paddock I spotted one complete white wing (cockatoo?
Or corella??) together with a few bits of bloody feathers scattered
around on the ground and an empty egg shell next to it. The remains
were over 50 metres from the nearest trees, completely out in the open.
Did a bird die whilst egg bound? Then taken by a fox?

Any suggestions welcome.
