Hi Everyone, Just resubscribed after a long break, and wondered if anyone might be interested catching a view of the White-winged Black Terns in the Noosa estuary. They are about to migrate to the northern hemisphere, and are there in good numbers, with fabulous full black breeding plumage. I watched them arriving for their night roost last night from Gympie Terrace, Noosaville. They were gathering on the sandbanks just across the channel from the caravan park. There were several thousand last night, including also Common Terns. You need a scope for good viewing, but it's a trip worth doing to see the White-wings looking so great.
