I have used the 100-400 IS lens being discussed for 2 and a half years now but had to have the autofocus unit replaced at the end of last year. At that stage I had taken nearly 30000 pictures with it so it had had a lot of hard work most of it in the outback. I have had prints made larger than A3 size and they are pin sharp so there is no problem with quality. The only drawback is that you cannot use the extenders with it.
