Hello all,

Just a short email to let you know that I've put up Part 2 of my collection of New Caledonia photos on my website (www.wildlifing.com). These cover from Farino in the west to the Linderalique cliffs in the east.

Some of the fauna photographs include the New Caledonian Grassbird, Horned Parakeet, New Caledonian Red-fronted Parakeet, New Caledonian Whistler, White-bellied Goshawk, Red-throated Parrotfinch, Reef Heron and others. Also there are some orchid photos. Can any of the orchid buffs identify the orchids? I think the pink one from the slopes of Mont Panie might be a Spathoglottis.

Seeing and photographing the New Caledonian Grassbird was one of the highlights of the trip. These rarely seen birds are very, very shy. Their apparent choice of habitat however seems to be pretty cosmopolitan and I can't help thinking that there might be more of them than people realise.

Cheers

Mick
