Welcome to the 2005 and the Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot survey season!
The national surveys for Regent Honeyeaters and Swift Parrots are coming up again soon and we would love for you to join us in our search for these endangered species.  There are already reports of Swift Parrots in Victoria. ACT and the central and south coasts of NSW, so no matter where you are keep your eyes and ears peeled!

National Survey Weekends 2005

First national survey weekend is on the 14/15 May (third weekend May) and the second survey weekend is on the 6/7 August (first weekend August)

Mark these dates in your diary now and get ready for some fun birdwatching this winter!

Thank you to all of our volunteers in 2004!

Thanks to all of you for your support once again last year - your ongoing commitment and sharing of knowledge is essential to the ongoing success of the Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot recovery programs.  The winter volunteer surveys continue to be a highlight of the season with good coverage nation-wide and good numbers of Swift Parrots being found each season.  Although the Regent Honeyeater records each year are usually of small groups, it is good to know that there are so many people out searching for these incredibly elusive birds, increasing the chance of finding new sites and new information.

For those of you wanting to do surveys in your local area in 2005, please contact the relevant coordinator for your state (specified below) and let us know which sites you would like to survey or simply request some suggestions for new sites you can explore.

Victoria – Chris Tzaros

NSW – Debbie Saunders or David Geering

Qld – David Geering

SA/ACT – Debbie Saunders

To get your survey sheets contact us on our freecall numbers and we will provide you with as many as you like.

We look forward to working with you all again!
