Hello all,

Was in Wallingat NP (north-east of Bulahdelah, 150 km north of Newcastle, NSW) on Tuesday (29/3/05) with friends and did a bit of nature-searching. We didn't do very well with the birds overall but saw a few things of interest.

Despite 6 hours of searching we only found one Sooty Owl on Thomas Road which flew overhead and then called once from a distance.

Other birds included White-throated Nightjar (1 bird sitting on Thomas Rd, outside the forest), Rose Robin, Crested Shrike-tit and Large-billed Scrubwren. Non bird findings of interest included Yellow-bellied Glider, Sugar Glider, Haswell's Froglet (Paracrinia haswelli), Revealed Frog (Litoria revelata), Great Barred Frog (Mixophyes fasciolatus) and the Leaf-tailed Gecko (Saltuarius swainii).

Cheers

Mick
