Hi all,

Trip to Lawrence Rocks off Portland yesterday with Fisheries.
Little Penguin (sev. Ads & Young)
Cape Gannet (4)
Aust. Gannet 1000's
Black-faced Cormorant (60+)
Crested Terns  (150+)
Silvergull (100+)
Sooty Oystercatcher (2)
White-faced Heron (3)
Swamp Harrier (1)
Whistling Kite (1)
White-throated Needletails two small flocks
Aust. Fur Seal (1)

The wind picked up and swung around to the west in the late afternoon and thousands of gannets immediately  turned around and faced into the breeze. Some of the young birds made their (ungainly) way to the cliff edge and amid a lot of  wing beating a few finally decided to take the big step and launched themselves into space and fledge.
