Hi all,

My 1912 copy of An Australian Bird Book by Leach states '... Australian Roller, Dollar (Star) Bird, Eurystomus pacificus.'   Cayley's 1946 edition of 'WHAT BIRD IS THAT?' shows it as 'Dollar-bird (Broad-billed Roller) Eurystomus orientalis.
As Australian decimal currency was introduced on February 14 1966 and as the dollar was originally a note and not a coin the name precedes its introduction by at least 2 decades and was used as an alternative name over four decades before.

Regards

Greg
