Hi all

On a whirlwind family trip to Brisbane on the weekend I saw a couple of species
I wasn't expecting - also plenty of other sensational birds I was vaguely
hoping for. It was unbearably hot (now I know why I don't live there any more)
so I only went birding very early on both Saturday and Sunday.

The surprises were:

Glossy Black Cockatoo - a pair in the middle of Raven Street Reserve, West
Chermside, munching on casuarinas, at about 5.30 am on Sat 29-01-5

Magpie-Goose - three flew over Deepwater Bend in Tinchi Tamba Wetlands
Reserve, Bald Hills, at about 8.30 am on Sunday 30-01-05. Are these 'tickable'
in SE Qld?

Nice sightings at Tinchi Tamba included 3 Kingfishers (Sacred, Forest and
Mangove), many White-Breasted Woodswallows, Eastern Curlew, Whimbrel,
Red-backed Fairy Wren (oh so cute) and Brolga.

Russell
