So, do Australian-made nest boxes have "ladders"?

That's just about talked me into trying to inveigle kookaburras to nest in
our tiny, 16 perch (pun intended) allotment. I've got trees. They
sometimes visit. Kookaburra nest box dimensions, anyone?

Australian aviculturists always put a ladder arrangement inside nest boxes that are too deep for the babies to reach the opening while standing on the floor of the box. Sometimes wooden rungs, or some wire mesh, or even a few screws part driven into the inside of the front panel of the box.

A suitable box design for Kookaburras can be seen at http://users.bigpond.net.au/ozbox/kook.htm
