Hi Mike and all

My first sighting of White-throated Needletail for this season was half an
hour after we waved goodbye to our Dutch visitors this morning ! Isn't it
always the way.
It was wonderful to watch about 200 ( conservative estimate ) WTT's swooping
low around our house and paddocks from about 8 A.M. to 8.40 A.M. this
morning. One flew so close its wing beats were clearly audible. Many were
coming within 2-3 metres of me standing on our front veranda. The weather
was partly cloudy and no wind. We have had about 60 mm of rain over the last
week and the insect population has exploded , presumably providing a good
food source for the Swifts.

Cheers

Dick Jenkin
