Just because the binocular repairman is quoted in "The Complete Birder" doesn't mean he would only repair birders' binoculars!. Maybe the 'moose manure' comment can be attributed to the large hunting fraternity in the US? Just checking out a few US binocular websites it appears that the primary market for binos is hunting, followed by birding.
