Hi all.
I was passing over the Bolte Bridge in Melbourne recently at night and was
astonished at the huge number of Silver Gulls (several hundred birds) circling
endlessly around the the beams of light that illuminate the two towers in the
centre of the bridge. Are these birds foraging on insects attracted to the
light, or are they simply "trapped" in the light beam and unable to fly out?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Daniel.
