This morning in Blue Gum Swamp,
Winmalee (80km west of Sydney) I sighted a Bell Miner although it didn’t match
entirely any of the illustrations for adult, juvenile or immature in Pizzey, Slater or HANZAB It had orange legs, bill and triangle
behind eye. It was olive green above & olive yellow below. Any ideas at
what stage of development the bird might be?
The bird did not call either before or
after it was sighted. It was eventually chased out of sight by two New Holland Honeyeaters
Today was the first time I have
recorded this species in the valley although there are several colonies nearby
in Springwood.
